5 fantastic reasons to learn how to play an instrument !

The summer Holidays are coming up and now all parents and students have to think of what to do for 6 long, hot weeks. May I suggest picking up an instrument as one of your points on your to do list. You might be sitting reading this thinking “Why would I want to do that?”. Let me share with you 5 fantastic reasons why:

What else can you do in your room and whenever you want?

When you think of picking up instruments you may think of long lessons that are costly but that isn’t the reality at all! The reality is that playing instruments can be a fun and easy thing to do in your spare time instead of playing video games or just laying in bed. Playing an instrument is more productive and gives you an outcome. What outcome do you get from scrolling on tik tok all day?

A whole new world!

Playing an instrument gives you a whole new world of knowledge, its like learning a whole new language just without all the verbs. So some might even argue learning instruments is easier! Who wouldn’t want to be more knowledgeable. The language of music is our future  and we must embrace it rather than run from it. With music being more widely taught in schools, now more than ever is the time to be learning an instrument and to get into the world of music.

Expanding your social circle

As music is becoming more popular and there are people and bands who are a huge inspiration to young people all over the globe, we will see more and more bands, young producers and musicians. This means just simply knowing a couple chords on a guitar or piano will help you connect and meet new people who are just like you! It is a really great opportunity to meet new friends and connections!

The science side of things

I’ve talked a lot about the friend and casual side of it but learning an instrument has a lot of other science based positives, like did you know it is proven to help with fine motor skills which just adds to the list of reasons why that special child in your life should pick up a guitar or even piano. Playing for just 5 minutes a day can boost cognitive abilities because it involves so many parts of the brain at once!

Annoying younger siblings?

You may be reading this with a younger sibling who cannot sit still and is always bothering you over the summer. Luckily for you, playing instruments can also be good for that. Playing instruments regularly can help with patience. Which is an important skill no matter if you’re 5 or 55.
